- Unpaid call → HTTP 402 with PAYMENT-REQUIRED (x402 v2, exact, USDC on Base). Sign with an x402 client (e.g. @x402/fetch) and retry with PAYMENT-SIGNATURE. The payer needs USDC only; the Coinbase facilitator pays gas.
- Invalid address / not a contract / not an ERC-20 → 422 before payment. Upstream failure → 503, not charged.

## Method and sources
- Base JSON-RPC (free public endpoints) for all state; eth_call with state overrides for the trade simulation (nothing is broadcast).
- Pools: Uniswap V2/V3/V4 and Aerodrome V2/Slipstream against WETH/ETH/USDC; USD values from on-chain WETH/USDC price.
- Verification: Sourcify and Blockscout. Holders and creation tx: Blockscout (fallback: on-chain sample, reported as a lower bound).
- Labels are factual signals ("sell failed in simulation", "owner can mint"), never judgements about intent.
